The Visible Knowledge Project (VKP) is a collaborative project involving 12 college and university campuses (and one virtual campus). Each campus is host to a local faculty discussion group around issues of pedagogical and technological innovation, one or two faculty engaged in a scholarship of teaching and learning research project, and a series of local dialogues (local conversations about issues central to the VKP's concerns).

The campuses of the VKP represent many facets of higher education: from
large, research universities to community colleges. Each physical campus is in partnership with the VKP and is host to a local study group. The Independent Investigators University (or I2U) is a virtual campus of innovators located independently at seven campuses across the country.
