American Studies Web is Launched
December 15th, 2007
Crossroads has launched the American Studies Web search engine into public beta. ASW is a collaborative search engine where users can find, tag, and add websites and online resources related to American Studies. Search results are weighted based upon the ratings users give, and comments written about them.
American Studies Web is the largest directory of web-based resources in the field of American Studies. First created by David Phillips in 1994, the current directory has evolved over the course of a decade. In 2000, Michael Coventry and Jamie Poster revised and expanded the content and Edward Maloney converted it to a new search interface. Dave Lester programmed the most-recent redevelopment of American Studies Web, with the help of Matthias Oppermann in revising the content.
